when students say that’s gay, they mean it in the stupid way
but I guess it’s ok, my feelings aren’t real anyway
when students are pushed and beaten down, teacher don’t spare a frown
school principal doesn’t care, now the fear holds the crown
some kids will stay silent, other kids will fight back
then there’s the kids who join the bullies and the violence
continuing the cycle, don’t you know that it’s nothing new
yesterday it was me, but tomorrow, it could be you
it gets better? WHEN AND FOR WHO?
the students who survive to graduate high school?
most students won’t even make it there, drop out since no one cares
even if they graduate, doesn’t mean that they’ll be spared
words lead to more words, hurt leads to more hurt
insecurity spreads and just leads to more burns
our schools erase anything that’s considered different
like smudges on white paper, we were never supposed to exist
